The 2024 Nissan X-Trail (sold in the United States as the Nissan Rogue) is a refresh to the mid-size SUV that brings some cosmetic changes and new interior features to the nameplate, whose major markets are in the United States and Australia. However, while the new release has been confirmed in the U.S., it has yet to reach the Australian market.

The mild facelift for this year’s model is heavily focused on the vehicle's exterior with new 18-inch and 19-inch wheel designs, a broader, redesigned front grille, and new styling on both the front and rear bumpers.

Nissan also adds three new exterior colors and satin-finish badges to all variants and a new gloss black-body option to the range-topping platinum trim for lovers of dark shades. The company also states that the vehicle sports new tail-light internals; however, this change is not immediately visible to the untrained eye.

Changes to the interior occur primarily in the tech department. The new X-Trail/Rogue features a new 12.3-inch infotainment touchscreen, which replaces the previous 8-inch standard screen in last year’s U.S. release. However, the old X-Trail in Australia already had the new 12.3-inch unit.

Elsewhere, Nissan takes full advantage of the larger screen in the new model, adding built-in support for Amazon Alexa and Google services (Google Play app store, Google Assistant, and Google Maps.) This support for apps does not replace traditional connectivity options like Android Auto and Apple CarPlay, which remain present and work wirelessly.

The app support rollout occurs with all newer Nissans with similar large screens.

Another notable tech upgrade is the expansion of the smartphone companion app that now offers extensive remote functions, including start/stop engine, lock/unlock car, or live vehicle geolocation.

Powertrain options remain the same, with the only option available with the United States release being a turbocharged 201-HP 1.5-litre gasoline engine paired with a continuously variable automatic transmission. Front-wheel drive is standard with the 2024 Nissan X-Trail, with an optional upgrade to all-wheel drive available.
