The Camry remains the classic choice for those who prefer a traditional midsize family sedan over the trendy SUVs increasingly dominating the Autos market.

The quintessential common sense midsize family sedan, the Camry’s winning formula of maximizing reliability, value, safety, and efficiency over all else has been around since 1982, winning the trust of and loyalty of a massive fanbase, and has earned it the top-selling-sedan spot, uninterrupted for the past 20 years—albeit with declining numbers in recent years, thanks to the burgeoning SUV craze.

The Toyota Camry Hybrid, first introduced in 2007, takes the efficiency side of things further still, offering a model that offers even better fuel economy and lower emissions than the regular Camry while retaining the same levels of reliability and in-cabin comfort.

For 2023, the Toyota Camry Hybrid carries over unchanged in the powertrain department, with a similar suite of engine options on offer.

Toyota offers a matching Hybrid version for each trim level of the nameplate, except for the Camry TRD trim, which is the only model in the Camry lineup that still ships with a conventional V-6. This hybrid setup adds two electric motors to the standard 203-horsepower engine on the conventional Camry, enhancing its fuel efficiency with no extra power gains.

However, if fuel economy is your chief reason for picking the 2023 Toyota Camry Hybrid, you should consider sticking to the lower-ranked LE Hybrid and SE Hybrid models. With these units, you get MPG quotients north of 50, which is up there with some of the best fuel-saving options in any class.

On the range-topping XLE Hybrid and XSE Hybrid, the V-6-based hybrid setup does not get as much efficiency gains, producing only a passable 22 MPG in the city and up to 33 MPG on the highway.
