The 2024 Toyota C-HR kickstarts the second generation of this unique nameplate that Toyota markets, especially towards the European market, framing it as a champion of emissions reduction and sustainability.

For this revamp of the C-HR, Toyota makes extensive changes to the exterior design while mainly maintaining its exciting silhouette. It promises a dramatically increased (100% more) incorporation of recycled and carbon-saving materials, even more so than its already heavily sustainability-focused predecessor.

The new exterior design for Toyota’s “super coupe” hybrid features the use of new elements like flush-mounted door handles, reduced shut lines around the entire exterior, rear doors that integrate seamlessly into the rear lamps, and increased concealment of the sensors and cameras to create an overall cleaner design that accentuates and enhances the funky look from last year even further.

Other notable changes include bolder rear styling, the standard offering of larger 20-inch wheels, and optional two-toned paintwork on select models.

Inside the cabin, the screens get larger with two 12.3-inch units, one acting as a digital instrument cluster and the other, a center-mounted touchscreen that serves as the primary infotainment system. Against the industry trends, Toyota still pairs the large screen with a couple of buttons for often-used functions.

As you would expect for a nameplate marketed heavily on sustainability, the 2024 Toyota C-HR will be available exclusively with electrified powertrains, at least in Europe.

The base powertrain features a 1.8-liter engine in its hybrid setup that produces a combined 138 horsepower, while the larger hybrid option pairs a 2-liter engine with motors to make a beefier 193 horsepower. The base engine only ships with front-wheel drive, while the larger engine offers an all-wheel drive option.

Alternatively, Toyota also offers a plug-in version of the 2-liter engine 2024 Toyota C-HR that outputs 223 horsepower and reaches an all-electric range of 14 miles.
