2024 Polo

Volkswagen Polo Photo

The 2024 Volkswagen Polo retains the same ethos as the previous year’s model, bringing a robust, compact car that offers a superb blend of technology, performance, and safety features for this price segment and the updated, clean aesthetic that appears on most recent Volkswagen offerings.

Similar to what you get with other low and mid-range releases from Volkswagen for 2024, most of the updates to the Polo are a reconstitution of the trims with a change in the suite of features available on each variant.

The most significant switch occurs with the middle Polo Style trim, which gets the standard addition of Volkswagen’s proprietary proactive occupant protection (which was previously only available on the highest GTI variant) that carries out emergency procedures like shutting the windows, tightening the seatbelts, and closing the sunroof when it detects an imminent crash. You also get new standard safety features like rear cross-traffic alert and blind-spot assist.

Elsewhere, safety features like automatic emergency braking, forward collision warning, and lane departure warning remain standard across the lineup, with optional upgrades that can add lane-keeping assistance, automatic high beams, and adaptive cruise control.

The other noticeable change to the lineup is the switch from capacitive touch buttons to physical buttons on the steering wheel of the GTI trim.

The interior of the 2024 Volkswagen Polo remains broadly similar to last year, with a pleasant minimalist aesthetic that comes with comfortable sitting gear and a 6.5-inch standard touchscreen infotainment unit with USB and Bluetooth connectivity. Optional tech upgrades in a premium Fender audio system, satellite navigation support, and a larger 8-inch display unit.

All three Polo trims retain their engines from last year, with the Life and Style sharing a three-cylinder 1.0-litre turbocharged gasoline engine that outputs 95 horsepower and the GTI trim featuring a similar but more powerful 2.0-litre that delivers a decent 150 HP.
