While awaiting the planned update to a second-generation design in 2026, the VW T-Roc, one of Volkswagen’s best-selling cars, continues to churn out new updates.

Consequently, with the 2024 Volkswagen T-Roc, the changes from 2023 are minimal, focusing more on new variations between the available trims than modifications to the vehicle’s core design and form.

However, this restructuring of the trims is mainly a superficial move, as the addition of new features to the base and other lower variants comes with an almost commensurate increase in prices that is only slightly lower than what you would pay to receive the matching optional upgrades in the previous model.

Volkswagen introduces a new entry-level trim, the T-Roc CityLife (which it brands a “special edition”) that now sits under the three main trims from last year.

To differentiate the previous lowest trim, the T-Roc Style, this package regains the rear cross-traffic alert and blind-spot monitoring features that were missing from the previous year’s edition. Other new standard features on the Style include a more extensive 10.25-inch display system, wired and wireless Android Auto and Apple CarPlay, satellite navigation, and voice-controlled operation.

The higher R-Line packs all of these features as well as luxurious standard upgrades to the cabin that were previously available only as optional add-ons, including heated front seats, Nappa leather upholstery, and a power-adjustable driver seat with memory presets.

Elsewhere, the 2024 Volkswagen T-Roc remains largely the same package as last year.

Under the hood, the lower CityLife and Style retain last year's powertrain with a 147-horsepower four-cylinder 1.4-litre turbocharged engine paired with an eight-speed torque-converter automatic transmission and a front-wheel drive system.

The flagship R-Line variant, however, sees an upgrade to a four-cylinder 2.0-litre turbo engine that outputs 187 horsepower paired with a dual-clutch seven-speed automatic transmission.
