With each passing year, challengers like the Chevy Silverado and the Ram 1500 continue to up the ante in this market segment, offering arguably better handling and driving character than the Ford F-150.

However, taking Ford’s place as the best-selling pickup truck will be no easy feat, as the F-150 has some of the best brand loyalty of any nameplate in existence. This status has kept it at the top of sales charts, especially in North America, for decades.

The Ford F-150 earned this reputation thanks to years of of consistently providing highly capable, reliable, and extremely configurable iterations for decades, gaining such mind-share that for many, the phrase "pickup truck" equals Ford F-150. While the new 2023 F-150 may not be the overall best kid on the block, this trusty full-size pickup truck maintains its competitive pricing and does enough in all departments to keep the chain going.

For 2023, Ford maintains the proven formula for the F-150, sporting the same aluminum body, varied bed lengths, highly customizable trims, and turbocharged engines that have become the mainstay with this name plate's current generation. It also retains the F-150 Lightning all-electric spinoff and introduces the first hybrid F-150 ever.

Joining the lineup for 2023 is a brand new off-road-focused trim, the Rattler, that offers a more affordable dirt champion alternative to the more extravagant Tremor and Raptor models (with their 33-inch all-terrain tires.) This new trim adds an off-road suspension system, a locking rear differential, dill-descent control, a dual-exhaust system, unique 18-inch wheels, and distinguishing rattle-snake-theme motifs incorporated into its aesthetic.

Elsewhere, you get the same wealth of options and trim choices that you would expect on an F-150 and several available engine types.

Selectable engine choices include a 290-horsepower 3.3-liter V6, a 325-horsepower 2.7-liter twin-turbo V6, a 400-horsepower 3.5-liter twin-turbo V-6 hybrid (paired with a 35 kW electric motor,) a 400-horsepower 5-liter V-8, and a 250-HP 3-liter diesel V-6 option.

All 2023 Ford F-150s come mated with a 10-speed automatic transmission, and every trim can be bought with either rear-wheel or all-wheel drive.
