With the further enhancements to the rugged exterior design that debuted with Sienna’s fourth generation in 2021, it is clear that the Toyota Sienna wants to be an SUV so badly, and in today’s SUV-crazed world, we can’t fault it.

But don’t be fooled by its rugged appearance; this is a minivan through and through. And that isn’t bad because minivans fill a role that few others can match. The Sienna has a long history of being a reliable and versatile family hauler, and the latest model is no exception, as it stays true to this ethos at its core.

The 2023 Toyota Sienna has an expectedly spacious and well-equipped interior, with plenty of room for passengers and cargo. It also features a smooth and quieter (on low acceleration) ride, thanks to its new strictly hybrid powertrain that also impresses in the fuel economy department.

New for the 2023 lineup is the addition of a commemorative limited-edition trim that marks the 25th anniversary of the Sienna nameplate. This 25th Anniversary Edition is based heavily on the sporty-theme XSE trim but features a host of visual cues that set it apart from the rest of the lineup.

This unique release gets two exclusive exterior color options: standout black exterior badging, roof rails, integrated puddle lights in its exterior mirrors, unique designs for its 20-inch wheels, and interior floor mats etched with the 25th Anniversary logo. This trim is also reasonably posh, with ventilated and heated front seats, a wireless charging pad, a JBL audio system, and on-theme blacked-out leather upholstery with silver accents.

Under the hood, the Sienna went hybrid only with the launch of its new generation, and the 2023 Toyota Sienna continues this trend. The only powertrain option is a 2.5-liter gasoline four-cylinder paired with dual electric motors up front to produce a decent 245 horsepower to propel its front-wheel drive. Adding an optional third motor out back converts the unit into an all-wheel drive.
