2024 Integra
As one of the first two vehicles that launched with the Acura brand in 1986, the Integra has a strong history going for it. Even more, its sportier trim, the Type R that ran from 1995 until 2001, is regarded by many automobile enthusiasts as one of the most legendary front-wheel-drive cars ever made.
With a portfolio like this, it is no surprise that the Integra nameplate made a return in 2021 after 16 years of absence.
However, the first few new Acura Integra were a bit lacking in the sporty, fun-to-drive spirit that has come to be associated with the nameplate, a divergence that the automaker aims to correct with this 2024 offering.
Acura handles this problem by throwing in a new Type S trim that brings that much-needed adrenaline hit, packing a manual transmission option, superior handling, a more aggressive exterior, and an overall sporty spirit that honors that Integra name.
Elsewhere, there are no significant changes to the standard Acura Integra. As it is a hatchback based on the Honda Civic, it shares many of its components, creating a pleasant cabin that is nowhere as nice as what you get with the German competition, like the Mercedes-Benz CLA-class and the Audi A3. However, the Integra is typically the more practical option thanks to superior cabin space and dramatically improved bang for your buck.
Despite all the rave being for the new performance-focused Type S trim, the standard Integra is no slouch either. Here, you get the same 1.5-liter four-cylinder turbocharged engine from the sporty Honda Civic Si that outputs 200 horsepower paired with a continuously variable automatic transmission and front-wheel drive. The exception is the A-Spec trims that offer a limited-slip differential and a six-speed manual transmission as optional upgrades.
The 2024 Acura Integra Type S, on the other hand, comes out guns blazing with a more aggressive 320-horsepower 2.0-liter turbocharged inline-four paired with a six-speed manual transmission and front-wheel drive as the standard.
