Honda is one of the world’s most renowned car brands primarily because of its solid reputation for producing efficient, durable, stylish, and price-competitive nameplates that efficiently retain consumer trust. The Honda HR-V, the brand’s entry-level SUV, sat below the CR-V, is an ode to all these virtues, returning for 2024 with barely any changes.

To create its value-focused build, the 2024 Honda HR-V continues to borrow heavily from the Civic, featuring chassis components, interior design elements, and the same powertrain setup as the smaller compact car.

However, while this vehicle loses some of the Civic’s good looks, it more than makes up for it with the added practicality that you get with the SUV form factor and significantly superior cabin room.

The HR-V's interior feel is clean, classic, and comfortable a la the Civic; the seatings are plush and supportive (with the front seats offering considerable adjustment options,) and the cabin packs several strategically placed storage cubby-holes that pair with the massive cargo area to help further reinforce the vehicle’s focus on practicality.

The base infotainment tech suite is a 7-inch touchscreen with an optional upgrade to a 9-inch screen (both with Android Auto and Apple CarPlay support.) The 9-inch screen comes standard on the range-topping EX-L trim, paired with wireless connectivity for Android Auto and Apple CarPlay and a standard wireless charging pad.

All of the features on the 2024 HR-V combine to create a posh, seamless experience that is impressive at this price point, creating what many car enthusiasts will consider one of the heroes of the B-segment subcompact crossover SUV market category. The only obvious letdown on this build is the underpowered powertrain, and there are no surprises there.

In the U.S., the only powertrain available on the 2024 Honda HR-V sports a 158-horsepower 2-liter four-cylinder that isn’t designed to break any records. The engine is paired with a continuously variable automatic transmission, standard front-wheel drive, and an optional upgrade to all-wheel drive, irrespective of trim level.
