About The MKZ

The Lincoln MKZ ran from the 2006 model year and was retired in the 2020 model year.

It was classed as a mid-size luxury car and was originally given the Zephyr model name until the company went through a renaming phase in 2007.

To create this car Lincoln’s parent company Ford used their Fusion platform along with several engines and a 6-speed automatic transmission.

In 2011 the car was improved with a hybrid option to capture lost potential energy during braking to recycle when accelerating again.

2013 saw the introduction of the second generation MKZ along with the addition of a new 2-liter turbocharged gasoline engine.

You could now order the car as a front-wheel-drive or a four-wheel-drive and once again the hybrid option was added to the car.

A facelift of the line in 2017 saw the front-end adapted to match the rest of the Lincoln models as the grille was redesigned drastically.

A new twin-turbocharged V6 was added for the higher-level trims during the facelift along with the buttons for the transmission being moved onto the infotainment system.

Lincoln discontinued the MKZ in the 2020 model year as they (like many other automakers) decide to focus on crossover SUVs instead.
