About The Ford Fusion

Occupying the mid-sized sedan segment is the Ford Fusion, it has been available on the market since 2005 and replaced the Mondeo in Latin and American markets.

The car shares a platform with the similar but larger Ford Edge crossover SUV, they both have similar mechanical parts under the hood.

You can also find the platform that the car sits on in use under the more modern European Ka model as well.

The car has so far been through 2 generations of design with the second being longer than the original in length and included much additional safety technology such as blind-spot information.

During the introduction of the second generation, the engine sizes available to the customer shrink in order to appeal to countries that tax vehicles based on engine displacement.

Trims that were on offer to customers were also reshuffled and now people could choose from the following options:

  • Energi
  • Energi Platinum
  • Energi SE
  • Energi Titanium
  • Platinum
  • S
  • SE
  • SEL
  • Sport
  • Titanium

The choice of a hybrid engine has been available since 2010 and has been quoted as having the best fuel economy for any mid-sized hybrid sedan.

You can find owner manuals for the hybrid version of the Ford Fusion on this page among the non-hybrid version under the relevant year.

The second-generation Fusion switched the battery technology from nickel-metal hydride to lithium-ion increasing capacity and reducing weight resulting in a much better MPG.

In 2018 the car was discontinued but production kept running for 2 more years until July 2020 when the final Ford Fusion rolled off the production line.
