2023 Fabia
With everything in the auto market gradually sizing up amidst the ongoing SUV craze, it is no surprise that even the tiny Fabia supermini has grown in size, with the 2023 Skoda Fabia now measuring 2.56 meters, which is a longer wheelbase than was customary two decades ago, even in a size category up from superminis.
However, the Fabia remains the smallest (and cheapest) Skoda available on the market, and with the death of the Citigo (like many other small cars over the past couple of years,) the Fabia is now a very inviting option from the manufacturer, whose reputation for producing excellent small cars is unrivaled.
Returning for its fourth generation, the Skoda Fabia is slowly creeping away from being the butt of many auto jokes, as it now features considerably sharper styling while improving on its impressive practicality credentials (for its size.)
However, in today’s market, it is no surprise that the Fabia is now a bit more upmarket, ditching the entry-level S trim and focusing on improving the quality of materials and comfort levels in the remaining models. The new model also veers away from its distinctive exterior look, modifying its aesthetics to edge towards uniformity with other more conservative options from Skoda.
Nevertheless, the 2023 Skoda Fabia is still cheaper than comparable options from the Volkswagen Polo and the SEAT Ibiza lineup, making it an inviting proposition for budget-conscious buyers.
Furthermore, the range of standard features available on all Fabia models is quite generous and outclasses most other options in its price range. You get 15-inch alloy wheels, rear parking sensors, LED headlights, automatic air-conditioning, and many safety systems, irrespective of trim level.
Under the hood, Skoda ditches the smallest engine from last year, making the new base a 79-horsepower 1-liter MPI gasoline engine. From there, a 1-liter TSI turbocharged engine (which can be tuned to 94 horsepower or 108 horsepower) provides more oomph, while the range-topping 148-horsepower 1.5-liter TSI engine takes things to the next level.
