About The Citigo

The Škoda Citigo, more commonly known as the Volkswagen Up!, is a small city car that has been manufactured by Volkswagen since 2011. The Škoda version was manufactured alongside the SEAT Mii until they were both discontinued in 2020 and 2021 respectively.

There has only been one generation of the base version, which received a facelift in 2016. The fully-electric Citigo-e iV has also had only one generation since then.

The Škoda Citigo features either a 3-door or 5-door hatchback layout. These are offered in only front-wheel drive and a front-mounted engine.

Other than its corporate counterparts, the only real competition comes from the Toyota Aygo and Hyundai i10.

Trim levels are the same as those found in the Up! These consist of the base Easy, followed by the Active, Ambition, and Style trim levels. Special editions include the Monte Carlo and Fun packages.

There are three 1-liter engines available for the Citigo. These consist of two different three-cylinder petrol engines with either 44 or 55 kW output and a three-cylinder compressed natural gas version. There is also the 60 kW electric powertrain found in the Citigo-e iV models.

These were mated with either a 5-speed automatic or manual transmission.

The internal combustion version of the Citigo was discontinued in 2020. However, there will likely be a Škoda variant of the new VW ID.1 in the near future.

The VW Up!, and subsequently the Škoda Citigo, has received several awards during its time on the market. The most notable of these include the Top Gear Magazine 2011 Small Car of the Year, What Car? 2012 Car of the Year, and the prestigious 2012 World Car of the Year.
