With the re-release of the Mini brand by BMW back in the year 2000 the company claimed it would release all sorts of weird and wonderful variants of the standard car.

In reality, we were only offered some boring choices including a convertible, a hardtop (owner manual’s for that style on this page) and a range of crossover SUVs.

Sticking to the original Mini brand, BMW kept the size of the car small to start with before offering some larger models as the years went on.

This standard Mini comes in a variety of trims, from the standard “One” through to the sporty “John Cooper Works” that features more aggressive styling and much more powerful engines.

In terms of choice, the engine options for the Mini range from a modest 1.2-2.0 litre gasoline, 1.5-2.0 litre turbo diesel and even a fully electric model called the Cooper SE.

The revived Mini brand has seen amazing sales especially for the standard hardtop model with sales through the roof.

Unfortunately in the second half of its life under BMW ownership, the Mini has seen criticisms from many saying that reliability is an issue, not something you want to hear for a small “reliable” runaround car.

Engine mounts, engine cooling and body integrity are said to become a source of problems with the car as it starts to age – surprising for a BMW sub-brand.
