About The Hornet
Dodge is entering the lucrative compact SUV segment next year with its first plug-in hybrid CUV – the Hornet. The 2024 Dodge Hornet SUV is expected to compete with other SUVs like the Toyota RAV4 Prime and Honda CR-V Hybrid. With two available powertrains, the Dodge Hornet pays homage to the iconic legacy of Dodge’s performance.
The Dodge Hornet GT is said to be the fastest SUV in its segment, delivering 200 kW (268 hp) and 400 Nm (295 lb-ft) of torque. The 2.0L Hurricane4 Turbo engine can propel the car from 0 to 60 mph in 6.5 seconds. The engine features a nine-speed automatic transmission with standard all-wheel drive.
Even faster is the R/T, with a top speed of 205.9 km/h (128 mph). Its 1.3-litre turbocharged four-cylinder engine joins forces with an electric motor to propel the car from 0 to 60 mph in just 5.6 seconds by producing 215 kW (288 hp). The R/T switches between electric and gas and can operate on both when you want it. Dodge says you can go an EPA-estimated 51.5 km (32 miles) on a single electric charge.
The Dodge Hornet PHEV presents a smaller version of the class, measuring 452.12cm (178 inches) in length and 263.7cm (103.8 inches) in wheelbase. The SUV is a little tight-fisted in space compared to its peers, like the Honda CR-V hybrid, which is 265.9cm (104.7 inches) in wheelbase and 458.7cm (180.6 inches) in length.
This CUV also has many intriguing features, such as a digital gauge display, an updated infotainment interface, cyclist and pedestrian detection, and automated emergency braking.
