About The EV4
Kia has yet to release any official information about the EV4, but its intention to produce this SUV is clear. The brand released teaser images of the EV4 back in 2021. In August and September, camouflaged mystery prototype vehicles that look like smaller versions of the recently unveiled Kia EV9 were spotted in Europe and South Korea. Many motoring journalists who spotted them noted their vertically-stacked LED headlights, black pillars, greenhouses, and EV6-like taillight arrangements, all essential features in Kia’s current design language for its electrified SUVs.
Owing to the fact that the Kia EV4 is expected to be between 4.4 and 4.5 metres long, it may replace the Kia Niro EV. Like all electrified vehicles in Kia’s vehicle lineup, the EV4 is expected to be based on the Hyundai-Kia Group’s E-GMP platform. One key characteristic of this platform is its 800V super-fast charging capability that enables a battery to recharge enough for a driving range of 100km in just 5 minutes. However, given the SUV’s likely low starting price, Kia may equip it with its cheaper 400V charger for this platform, which is still bound to deliver fast charging times.
The Kia EV4 is also expected to come in single-motor or dual-motor configurations. The single-motor models are likely to have rear-wheel-drive (with a rear-axle-mounted motor), while the all-wheel-drive models are bound to have a motor on each axle.
This SUV is expected to launch in 2024 with a WLTP driving range of up to 482 km (300 miles).
