2023 Mokka

Out of the sea of drab, family-focused crossover SUVs, the 2023 Opel/Vauxhall Mokka offers a significantly more stylish alternative thanks to significant upgrades to its aesthetic profile for this year’s release.

Place side-by-side the new Mokka does not even look related to the old one, and that’s a good thing. The 2023 Mokka comes equipped with a decidedly upscale-looking exterior that would shame most offerings in its price range. The enjoyable silhouette comes complete with a bold front grille and elegant sharp lines that create a distinctive and dynamic macho look that looks for above its pay grade.

Even more eye-catching are the exclusive two-tone color schemes and gloss black alloy rims that come standard on the Special Edition and range-topping trims.

Inside, the new Vauxhall Mokka has a somewhat chic interior to match, and why it is not on the level of the class 2008 from Peugeot, it does enough to provide a posher feel than is customary in most small SUVs. The raised ride height on the 2023 Mokka also makes for a more commanding view from the cockpit that complements its fairly macho exterior excellently.

However, while the new Opel Mokka overperforms in the styling department, it does so at the expense of as much practicality as some of the range leaders. You do get sufficient roominess in front, but larger adults may need help squeezing into the tighter back seats. The cargo area is also noticeably smaller than what you find on options like the Peugeot 2008 and the Skoda Kamiq.

Under the hood, you get fairly languid options, but that isn’t surprising at this price point. The two available engine options are a 1.2-liter turbocharged gasoline unit that can be tuned to produce 100 or 130 horsepower and a 1.5-liter turbocharged diesel engine that outputs 110 horsepower.

The gasoline engine comes with a seven-speed dual-clutch automatic or a six-speed manual gearbox, while the diesel engine can only be mated with the six-speed manual.
