Every once in a while, we car enthusiasts are treated to a bold redesign that has us all tipping our hats to the design team behind the new formulation. The new Hyundai Santa Fe for 2024 is one such venture.

The new exterior of the 2024 Santa Fe needs no announcement as it immediately introduces itself with its strong presence. For the introductory model of the new generation, Hyundai opts for a daring boxy look that is dramatically different from the old model, leaning more towards the macho appearance of offerings like the Land Rover Defender.

In line with this new brawny profile, the new SUV also features a broader tailgate to support large adventure gear and enough room for rooftop tents—a vibe that is taken a step further with the outdoorsy XRT trim.

With the 2024 Hyundai Santa Fe looking more rugged and boxy than its predecessor, it is no surprise that it is bigger, too. The new model featured an extended wheelbase, a decreased front overhang, a consequent roomier cabin, and a new third seating row.

Inside, the 2024 Santa Fe stays true to its new theme, featuring dramatic, straight, boxy lines with almost no rounded elements.

The powertrain department sees some revamp as well with the new highly-powered base engine now a 2.5-liter inline-four engine that outputs 277 horsepower (up from 191 horsepower with the previous base model engine) and 311 pound-feet of torque and pairs with a dual-clutch automatic transmission and front-wheel drive (with optional upgrade to all-wheel drive.)

Hyundai will also offer hybrid versions of the 2024 Santa Fe.

With this SUV jumping up in size and brawniness, a commiserate increase in weight is also present, with the units adding close to a thousand pounds and now measuring 4750 pounds, up from 3858 pounds. Combined with the new, significantly more powered engine options, the 2024 Hyundai Santa Fe should create an interesting new driving experience and post new towing capacity figures.
