This 2022 Hyundai Santa Fe is classed as a compact crossover SUV and is part of its fourth generation of design.

The first fourth-generation models went into production in 2018 and by 2021 had received a facelift.

During that 2021 mid-cycle refresh the car was moved to a completely new platform, a very rare move from an automaker.

It (including this 2022 Santa Fe) was now being built on the N platform, a chassis also used under the Kia Carnival and the Hyundai Sonata.

Alongside these models, you can also find the N3 platform at work under the newer 2022 Tucson and the 2022 Santa Fe.

Design-wise, the front end was changed with a LED light bar stretched across the bumper and the arches flared outwards to accommodate larger 20-inch alloy wheels.

You can find many of these features already implemented in the 2022 Elantra where the South Korean carmaker seems to have found the inspiration for this model.

Inside of this new 2022 Santa Fe you can find a larger version of the gear selector operated by buttons rather than a traditional stick.

A larger touchscreen infotainment system dominates the dashboard packed in closely with the fully digital instrument cluster next to it.

Thanks to the recent change in the platform for the model you can now choose to have a plug-in hybrid drivetrain to have some limited electric-only drivetime.

With a full battery in the plug-in hybrid version of the 2022 Hyundai model, you can expect to drive for 31 miles on electricity alone.

A new trim was also added for this new Santa Fe called the XTR - a rugged version of the car with side steps and unique alloy wheel designs.
