2024 Camry
With a run of over 20 unbroken years of being the best-selling sedan in the United States (often ranking top 5 in the world,) the Toyota Camry’s iconic status is undebatable at this point.
With SUV and pickup sales now hot on the heels of the sedan, the Toyota Camry represents one of the last bastions of the old-school that continues to attract attention for its economical, dependable, comfortable, and low-key profile. With barely any new changes to this year’s model from the 2023 version, the 2024 Toyota Camry has its intention set on keeping the chain going.
The new midsize sedan retains most characteristics of the previous model, with the only changes being some slight aesthetic enhancements and software modifications to the onboard infotainment unit.
The big change to the infotainment system is the ditching of the Amazon Alexa interface from last year for Toyota’s OEM Entune 3.0 system that comes with Android Auto and Apple CarPlay support and a bunch of Toyota-friendly features, like compatibility with MyToyota mobile app. An optional enhanced version of the user interface and app is available as an upgrade.
The rest of the interior does not see any change, with the dash aesthetics, instrument panel setup, and center console remaining the same and the acclaimed roomy cabin remaining unchanged.
However, the difference in the quality of upholstery and paneling can be dramatic as you move from trim to trim. The lower trim features lowly furnishing that makes you feel like you overpaid (despite the Camry’s budget-friendly starting price). In contrast, the range-topping XLE and XSE models swing violently in the opposite direction, providing a luxurious, cushy cabin that feels like a steal.
In the powertrain section, the Camry remains the same, featuring both four-cylinder and six-cylinder options, balking at the trend set by the Hyundai Sonata and Honda Accord—its closest competitors—that both ditched their V-6s for inline-fours.
The range-topping V6 engine boasts an impressive 301 horsepower, up from the 208-hp four-cylinder and similarly powered four-cylinder hybrid.
