2018 C4 Cactus

Citroën C4 Cactus Photo

The Citroën C4 Cactus is classed as a subcompact crossover SUV and is only available with 5-doors.

Production began in mid-2014 in a factory in Madrid, Spain by the French company that used the C3 chassis underneath it.

It sticks out from many other cars on the market thanks to its air-bubble side stripes that protect the paintwork from supermarket car park dings.

All examples of the C4 Cactus are front-wheel-drive with no four-wheel-drive option available to buyers.

A Rip Curl branded trim adds a sort of limited-slip-differential to the car controlled by a computer instead of a heavy mechanical component.

This allows the special-edition version of the car to direct power to the wheel that needs it the most when losing traction.

Typically a standard differential on a road-going car like this would direct the power to the wheel that is slipping the most, great when on the road but useless when off it.

2018 saw a facelift for the C4 Cactus which added many important safety features such as a lane departure warning system and emergency braking.

Blindspot monitoring and parking assistance were also added to the car as standard to help improve the driver's experience.

Marketing of the 2018 Cactus was also changed from the view that it is an SUV and more towards it being a standard hatchback.

The PDF owner's manual on this page is for the 2018 version that features many of these new driver-aids and is marketed as a hatchback.
