About The Ram ProMaster

The Ram ProMaster is the North American version of the Fiat Ducato, a light commercial version that has been sold since 1981. However, it only joined the North American market in 2014, being manufactured now by Stellantis.

It has also been sold as the Peugeot Boxer, Citroën Relay, and Opel Movano.

There has only been one generation of the Ram Trucks version currently.

There are three variants of the Promaster, the smallest 1500, followed by the 2500, and the 3500. These are in line with the rest of the Ram Trucks range. Accordingly, payloads increase with the respective model sizes, with the largest version being able to carry up to 2010 kg or 4,430 lbs.

Ram offers a number of configurations that are typically found in light commercial vehicles. These include low and high-roof cargo vans, window vans, chassis cab, and cutaway chassis that is often used for motor homes. Depending on the model, these come on wheelbases ranging from 2.65 meters to 4 meters.

Additionally, there is the smaller version called the ProMaster City.

These are all powered by a 3.6-liter Chrysler Pentastar V6. This was later updated to the new Pentastar Upgrade engine in 2021. Diesel powertrains consist of a 3-liter Chrysler EcoDiesel inline-4. However, the diesel version was discontinued in 2019.

These have been mated with a 9-speed automatic and a 6-speed automatic transmission for the petrol and diesel versions respectively.

The ProMaster received a facelift in 2019 which came with new front fascia and other exterior changes. On the inside, Ram made the five-inch touchscreen radio a standard feature. An additional facelift came in 2021. This update included a host of new safety features and upgraded interior lighting.
