About The F-450

The Ford F-450 is a full-size heavy-duty pickup truck that falls under the Ford Super Duty Range. This represents the larger models found within the F-Series. During its time on the market, there have been four generations released, with the latest version debuting in 2017.

As its name indicates, the F-450 falls between the F-350 and larger F-550 and F-600 models. However, it is the largest pickup truck sold by Ford, as the larger versions are sold exclusively as chassis cabs.

Like these other models, it features various configurations like the 2-door regular cab, 2-door Super Cab, and 4-door Crew Cab. Other additional configuration options include two varied box lengths, as well as single and dual rear wheel drivetrains. Some models also featured four-wheel drive.

Due to the popularity of heavy-duty pickup trucks, particularly in North America, there is decent competition in the class. The most notable rivals include the Chevrolet Silverado 4500 HD and RAM 4500HD.

The latest versions feature the typical trim options offered by Ford. These consist of the base XL, followed by the XLT, Lariat, King Ranch, Platinum, and Limited.

Unlike some other models, Ford has not yet released a high-performance Raptor version yet.

As with the rest of the F-Series, there have been multiple large engines found in the F-450. The most recent models provide either a 7.3-liter V8 or a 6.7-liter Power Stroke V8 Turbo Diesel. These have been mated with a TorqShift 10-speed SelectShift Automatic transmission.

Older models feature similarly large engines, both petrol and diesel. This is to account for the high payload and towing capacity required of heavy-duty trucks.
