About The Trajet

The Trajet is a 7-seat multi-purpose vehicle built by car manufacturer Hyundai between the years 1999 and 2008.

Created with a 2-liter GSI engine available in petrol, diesel or LPG, the Trajet was designed in South Korea with the premier taking place in the UK at the London Motor Fair. The word ‘Trajet’ is derived from the French term to ‘travel from one point to another.’

The Trajet has three rows of seats with the front chairs swivelling 180 degrees so as to face the car’s passengers. In addition, the middle row of chairs folds to create a table in the centre of the vehicle making it ideal for either a picnic on the road or an office area.

Standard features included driver, passenger and side airbags, ABS, power steering, seat belt pre-tensioners, all electric windows, sliding outer seats and front and rear air conditioning.

Hyundai brought out an update in 2004 with the SE model receiving a DVD player, privacy glass, SmartNav and reversing sensors. This car was available in either a manual or automatic transmission.

Following the update, Hyundai launched the SE trim level with a 2.7-liter V6 with the rest of the range receiving upgraded powertrains. Fuel consumption improved too, 30.4 mpg to 32.5 mpg.

Hyundai offered a 5-year unlimited mileage warranty which was transferrable between owners. Production ended in 2008 with no successor named. Hyundai was clear to make the point that the Grand Starex was not the Trajets replacement as it was not a minivan. Instead, if customers wanted a vehicle of similarly equal attributes, they were directed toward the Kia Carnival.
