About The EV9

Large 3-row, 7-passenger electric SUVs are few and far between on the market, so when Kia unveiled the EV9 SUV at the 2023 New York International Auto Show, it caught the world’s attention.

This SUV, which is the same size as the Telluride – its popular petrol-powered 3-row sibling, is based on the Hyundai-Kia Group’s E-GMP platform. The EV9 is scheduled to go on sale in 2024 and will be available in rear-wheel drive or all-wheel drive options.

The all-electric EV9 comes standard with 19-inch wheels, which offer up to 7.8 inches of ground clearance. It can also be had with one of two battery options: a standard-model-specific 76.1-kWh battery good for a range of up to 359 km (223 miles) or a long-range-model 99.8-kWh battery that can deliver up to 482 km (300 miles) of range. The EV9 offers ultra-fast 800V DC super-fast-charging capability for these batteries thanks to the E-GMP platform. It also offers other charger options, like a Level 2 charger (240v) for home charging. With the fast charger, the EV9 can recharge its battery from 10% to 80% in up to 25 minutes.

Also worth noting is that the Kia EV9 has an onboard power generator that enables you to use the EV9 as a power source. The SUV also has a heat pump to help preserve an all-electric range when driving in freezing weather.

Regarding motor options, the RWD models have a rear-axle-mounted motor that makes 149.8 kW (201 hp) in the standard models and 160.3 kW (215 hp) in the long-range models. On the other hand, the dual-motor all-wheel drive models benefit from a combined power output of 283-kW (379-hp) and 699.6 Nm (516 lb-ft) of torque. Kia claims that the dual-motor models can sprint from 0 to 60 km/h in just 5.0 seconds, with the ability to activate torque-vectoring all-weather grip.

The Kia EV9’s digital cockpit features dual 12.3-inch screens, a 5-inch screen for HVAC controls, CarPlay, and Android Auto. Additionally, there is a wireless phone charger, enhanced driver confidence via multi-camera views, and support for ultra-wideband smartphone key access.

Kia EV9 also has first and second-row relaxation seats that recline at a button, providing sufficient legroom and 2268kgs (5,000 lbs) of towing capacity. This SUV comes with a 10-year/160934 kilometers (100,000 miles) limited warranty, which includes the battery.
