About The RX

The Lexus RX range started in 1998 when the first-generation model was released as a way for the luxury automobile manufacturer to enter the mid-size SUV market.

There are many features to this car including its powerful V6 engine, leather seats and heated front seats, backup camera with dynamic guidelines, power moonroof and much more.

These owner’s manuals go over all of the important aspects of owning your very own RX so you can get behind the wheel feeling confident.

With a limited choice of engines and transmissions, the original car was more of a test to see if the market was ready for a mid-size luxury SUV.

Sales clearly showed that a mid-size SUV from Lexus would attract an ample amount of custom in North America, the company’s largest market.

This model was smaller than the first SUV that the company had released a few years earlier called the LX.

A few years after the successful launch of the RX the luxury automobile brand swiftly moved into producing the GX SUV, a model that sat between this one and the LX.

Lexus further experimented with SUVs and caught the shift in customer demand as the waves turned that way creating an even smaller version than before called the NX.

The Lexus RX has seen many changes during its lifetime across 4 generations of design.

With rising fuel costs the SUV had to adapt and so the engine/transmission choices have been adapted to increase fuel economy.

In 2005 a hybrid option was introduced for the RX and sold incredibly well and helped fill the gap caused by people moving away from heavy vehicles.

Sales of this original mid-size SUV in the USA have held steady over the years as the car continues to evolve.

A: The Highlander model from Toyota uses the same chassis underneath as the Lexus RX and is more affordable.

Q: Why buy a Lexus over a Toyota?

A: With a Lexus, you can expect a higher level of comfort, safety, performance and style even though many of the models use the same platform. The price is usually higher for a Lexus though and the bade itself carries some value.

Q: What kind of oil does the Lexus RX350 use?

A: The manufacturer recommends that you use fully synthetic oil in your Lexus RX350. Doing so also means that you won't have to change the liquid and filter half as often as when you use conventional oil.

Q: How many miles does a Lexus RX350 last?

A: When properly cared for the RX350 can last up to 250,000 miles. Some parts may need replacing with the biggest being the batteries for the hybrid equipment if fitted.
