About The Continental

The Continental line from Lincoln (a division of Ford) has been in production since the 1930s.

It has jumped between the full-size and mid-size luxury car classification multiple times over the years.

Most recently during its tenth generation, it was classed as a full-size luxury car and was based on the same platform as the Ford Fusion.

This new version was the first Continental on the market for 14 years and only ran from 2017 to 2020.

The ninth-generation model was based on the Ford Taurus and was only offered with one V8 engine option.

It was offered with one of three gasoline engines mated to a 6-speed automatic transmission – a long-wheelbase version was also available called the Coach Door Edition.

Lincoln decided to scrap the line due to low sales and instead focus their attention and resources on crossover SUVs.

The MKX and Nautilus models from the luxury automobile manufacturer are also based on the Fusion platform but are crossover SUVs – essentially acting as the replacement for this line.

Every single Continental ever produced has been assembled in the United States and sold locally.

The owner’s manuals on this page are for the most recent generation of the Continental and will be updated with new PDFs if a new generation is introduced at any point.
