About The Ghibli
The Maserati Ghibli is a luxury car that brings the company roaring into the 21st Century with environmentally friendly hybrid engines and modern technology. However, compared to its competition from BMW, Porsche and Mercedes, the Ghibli is incredibly expensive and thus fails to excel within its market.
Under the hood, the Ghibli comes equipped with a hybrid system, comprising of a 2.0-liter turbocharged petrol engine and a small electric motor to give it a boost. This engine allows the Maserati Ghibli to accelerate from 0-60 miles per hour in an impressive 5.7 seconds, which isn’t the fastest for a car of this price, but it’ll still be more than enough for everyday circumstances.
The suspension does let the Ghibli down considerably. As a luxury car, you’d expect the sports car to glide over every bump and pothole in the road. However, it’s surprisingly uncomfortable and the suspension feels far too sporty and firm. The handling is faultless, however, with excellent response, giving the Ghibli surprising agility.
It does sit on the same platform as the Quattroporte and the Levante SUV so these models may be worth taking a look at too when shopping around.
The cabin of the Maserati Ghibli is beautiful. Drivers will be pleased to see leather upholstery, accompanied by an elegant trim made of the finest plastics and leathers. The build quality feels sturdy and secure, and there’s plenty of gadgets for the driver too. These include an 11-inch infotainment system as standard, parking sensors and even a rear-view camera. These gadgets make the Ghibli feel that much more luxurious and expensive to drive, and it makes the overall experience much better.
However, the interior does lack the practicality that you’d expect from a luxury car. Compared to competitors, the Maserati Ghibli lacks cargo space. This can be extremely annoying when using the car every day, especially when you consider the model is one of the most expensive luxury cars on the market.
