About The Model Y

Customers started getting deliveries of their Tesla Model Y’s in early 2020 and have found the car to be spacious inside.

It’s based on the Model 3‘s platform with most of the same parts both underneath and inside the all-electric car.

By comparing the two cars from the same manufacturer using the Model Y owner’s manual you can see they share many similarities.

The Model Y is classed as a compact crossover utility vesicle (CUV) and is sort of like a small version of the Tesla Model X.

Back in 2013, the trademark was copyrighted for the car’s name so there have been plans in the works for some time now.

It wasn’t until 2 years later that the company’s CEO Elon Musk teased the public with concept drawings of the car featuring falcon-style doors.

Another 2 years went by until in 2017 the shareholders were treated to a simple cutout of the car to show where the company is heading.

Production is taking place in the “Giga Nevada” factory and assembly is taking place in the “Tesla Factory” in California.

All Model Y’s feature a different type of cabin heating method than the other Tesla models, it pumps the excess heat from the electric motors rather than create new heat.

Eventually, the Model Y will also be assembled in a new plant in Germany that will provide Tesla cars for the European countries and help keep transportation costs down.

The electric range of the car is quoted to be 326 miles on a single charge on the “Long Range” version, both models share the same Tesla Model Y manual on this page.
