While older versions of the Citroen C3 were really just a kind of sibling to the DS3, the 2019 Citroen C3 model brought with it a more independent sense of identity and style. There was a time when people would see a second-gen C3 and wonder why the owner wasn’t driving a DS3 instead.

Since the two marques have separated more, the all-new 2019 Citroen C3 as was presented a new opportunity, and people jumped at it. Under the hood was a range of gasoline and diesel engines.

The standard powertrain was a 1.2L 3-cylinder turbocharged gasoline engine outputting 83-hp, and a more powerful version of that going up to 110hp. There were also 2 diesel variants at 1.5L displacement, one delivering 100-hp and the other 110-hp.

With efficiency at almost 51-mpg, however, it is certainly a car they love in Europe for its efficiency!

Citroen’s goal in redesigning and creating a new C3 was to make a super-comfortable crossover that was affordable for young people and would appeal to their sense of style. The overall aesthetic inside and out is somewhat quirky, but that adds a kitschy appeal that younger drivers seem to love.

In its driving dynamics, the most impressive features of all are the traction, suspension and ride comfort. French carmakers seem to know well what they are doing when it comes to creating a quiet and smooth ride that’s still affordable. The tires’ grip on the road is also very pleasing, even on wet roads, but body roll leaves something to be desired.

Even top trims were on sale with starting prices under $20,000, making the C3 one of the most affordable crossover cars anywhere. It’s most at home in the city, but after 2019 the C3 was also used as a basis for rally models, so the scope for sportier models in the future is there.
