2021 QX80

Infiniti QX80 Photo

For those in the market for high-end full-size family SUVs, the 2021 Infiniti QX80 had a lot of appeal. It has a high starting price at more than $70,000, but also many great standard features like a powerful V8 engine and terrific styling with a spacious passenger cabin.

Both RWD and AWD drivetrains are available on the 2021 model, and it can be configured to fit up to 7 or even 8 passengers in total, with all sitting in plush leather seats and decent amounts of legroom.

The 2021 QX80 came in 3 trim levels, Luxe, Premium Select, and the top-level Sensory, which started at $81,595. The mid-level Premium Select was new for 2021 and started at $74,745. Even on the entry-level Luxe, you get heated leather seats, a power-adjustable steering wheel, captains’ chairs in the second row, adaptive cruise control and a Bose premium sound system.

The QX80 is powered by a 5.6L V8 engine paired with a 7-speed automatic transmission. Despite its heft, the 400-hp engine unit launched it from 0 to 60 in just 5.9 seconds. The powerful engine and hulk of the QX80 give it a very impressive 8,500-lb towing capacity, too.

Fuel economy is not exactly where the strength of the QX80 lies, achieving just 14-mpg in the city, and 20-mpg on the highway, with a 17-mpg combined rating, but gas mileage isn’t necessarily why people purchase an SUV like this.

The interior is very well decked out with comfortable seating, plush upholstery, soft-touch materials, and huge amounts of interior storage space. The second-row seating can be configured as captain’s chairs or as a bench seat depending on what capacity you want in total.

For the price point, you might expect to find a massage function, an HUD and maybe a sunroof, but these are all distinctly missing from the QX80. That’s unfortunate, but one can’t help but admire the fine finish of what is there.

If the price of the model is too high for you then you can opt for the budget versions through Inifni's parent company Nissan with fewer luxuries - in the way of the Patrol and the Armada.
