The fact that BMW made no visible changes for a new release of one of its bestsellers tells you everything you need to know about the X3. The 2024 BMW X3 is the next identical link in the chain of X3 models that plays its role perfectly and to much acclaim. A well-rounded, unassuming compact luxury crossover, the 2024 BMW X3 is sure to rank near the top of most lists in this market category.

The X3 brings the same lovable handling and refined nature of the BMW 3-series sports sedan in a larger, more practical frame that brings more room and cargo space.

However, compared to some of its closest competitors like the Volvo XC60, Genesis GV70, and the Mercedes-Benz GLC-class, the X3’s muted looks may fulfill the flash and glam that some luxury maximalists may want in a vehicle of this stature. Nevertheless, for others, this refined businesslike look is more of a feature than a bug.

This sensible, functional design language continues in the car’s interior, which packs a luxurious feel that avoids flashiness or designer duds.

Robust standard offerings you find here include 10-way power-adjustable front seats, reclining back seats, plush cushioning, and an A1 selection of materials (including a glossy trim, stitched faux leather dashboard and door covers, and a nickel-toned metallic accents) that combine to create an ambiance that exudes luxury.

The 2024 BMW X3 also packs the tech to match with a 10.3-inch touchscreen infotainment display running BMW's proprietary iDrive available standard with an optional upgrade to a larger 12.3-inch available. However, while you do get a Wi-Fi hotspot, Bluetooth connectivity, and one USB port standard, wireless charging is only available via a paid upgrade.

The powertrain performance is where BMW often speeds past most of the competition, and the X3 is no different. The base M30i trim packs a four-cylinder 2.0-liter turbocharged engine that outputs 248 horsepower, while the sportier M40i gets a more aggressive 382-horsepower inline-six monster.

Rear-wheel system and an optional all-wheel drive upgrade are available on both trims.
