When shopping in the supermini market segment, it often does not get better than the Peugeot 208, and many consumers agree. In 2022, this subcompact hatchback dethroned the long-reigning Volkswagen Golf to become Europe’s best-selling car. With the 2024 Peugeot 208, the company updates the aesthetics and features of its uber-stylish supermini range to help extend this newfound lead.
For the 2024 edition of this vehicle, the release will be spread across three principal trims—Active, Allure, and GT—each with different levels of cosmetic variation and features availability (the company is also releasing a limited-availability e-208 mild-hybrid model.)
The most apparent cosmetic change to the lineup is the switch to the updated Peugeot lion badge that sits top-center of the front grille (with the GT trip, the badge is accentuated further with a lighting profile that extends into the headlights to create a more holistic aesthetic.) The grille, too, underwent a redesign and now features horizontal dash accents that match the car’s body color, blending in smoothly with the surrounding bumper.
The car’s headlights have also been adjusted outwards to give the vehicle’s front a wider appearance, while the rear now ditches the vertical LED strips for a horizontal one.
The central infotainment system on all models is powered by a 10-inch touchscreen, a bump up from the 7-inch in the previous year’s model. The instrument cluster for the Active trim is an analog 3.5-inch colored screen, while the GT and Allure trims get a more modern 10-inch digital display.
Peugeot retains most of the interior aesthetics from the previous year’s release, which is no surprise, seeing as the 2023 supermini was already one of the best-in-class in this department.
Minor changes include extra USB ports, a more robust 15W wireless charging part (standard on the GT model, optional on others,) and higher-definition cameras for parking assistance.
In the powertrain section, the manufacturer retains the options from the previous years, offering either a 99 horsepower three-cylinder 1.2-liter engine with a six-speed manual transmission combo or a less powerful 75 horsepower engine paired with a five-speed manual transmission.
