Taking cues from the popular sports coupes of the 1950s and 1960s in Britain and Italy, the Mazda MX-5 brings an affordable 2-seater sports car into the market.
Sales of the small car started in 1989 and since then the MX-5 has smashed records inside its segment, achieving 500,000 sales by 2000 and 1 million by 2016.
The reason this car has outsold others in its class is that they have kept things simple whilst offering just what people want from a 2-seater car.
By producing the car in bulk and pricing the MX-5 so cheaply Mazda has managed to sell large volumes and made the line profitable.
For 2020 the current model on the market is an example of the fourth-generation that entered service in 2015 and had slight tweaks in 2018 to improve its front-end.
