About The León

The SEAT León is a compact car that is usually referred to as the Leon (without the accent) outside of Spain.

These owner’s manuals will give you all the information about your new León.

When you purchase this vehicle, make sure to read through this manual carefully before using it on the road.

It was first introduced in the late 1990s and was built on the same platform used under many Volkswagen cars such as the Audi A3 and Volkswagen Golf.

From the outside, it looked like a more grown-up version of the Ibiza model but with larger engine options and sports variants.

This car has always been sold as a hatchback and has kept its same rough shape, although in later generations it appears thinner and taller.

Most of the models are front-wheel-drive but some of the performance trims of the León included a four-wheel-drive system such as the Cupra 4.

2020 saw the introduction of the fourth-generation model and some of the most obvious changes are the inclusion of several green technologies.

Buyers can now order the SEAT León with a natural gas-powered engine, a plug-in hybrid drivetrain or a simple mild-hybrid option to just capture lost energy during braking.

Alongside these drivetrain choices, León customers are also spoilt for choice when it comes to trims, with options such as:

  • Cupra
  • Cupra Lux
  • Cupra R
  • FR
  • FR Black Edition
  • FR Sport
  • FR Technology
  • S
  • SDZ
  • SE
  • SE Dynamic
  • SE Dynamic Technology
  • SE Technology
  • SEZ
  • Xcellence
  • Xcellence Lux
  • Xcellence Technology

Thanks to the car being built on borrowed Volkswagen technology the safety ratings have always been impressive, with 5 out of 5 stars awarded by Euro NCAP many times.
