About The Ioniq 5
In 2020 Hyundai span-off the Ioniq name into its own brand after seeing success with its Ioniq standalone model.
This new brand was created to focus on battery-powered and alternative energy automobiles.
Underneath the Ioniq 5 is the Electric Global Modular Platform created by the South Korean automaker and its partner Kia.
Kia is marketing their own version of the car as the Kia EV6 although with fewer trim options than this one.
Production of this model began in early-2021 for the 2022 model year at assembly plants in South Korea.
It is being offered in one of three trims that can be chosen at the point of purchase, including:
- 58kWh
- 72.6kWh
- 77.4kWh
All three versions above can then be ordered with either a single motor powering the rear wheels or two motors powering all four.
The best range possible is with the single-motor 77.4kWh version at just over 300 miles on a single charge.
Hyundai claims that with just a 5-minute charge you can add just over 60 miles to the range of the car and continue with your journey.
The company is also marketing a more luxurious version of the 5 through their newly formed premium Genesis wing called the GV60.
