About The Cupra Tavascan
The Tavascan is an upcoming model to be released by SEAT’s luxury subbrand Cupra. The fully-electric coupe SUV is set to be released by 2024.
A concept model was first unveiled way back in 2019, resulting in customers being forced to wait patiently for its release. The model to be released is expected to look very similar, if not identical, to the concept shown years ago.
The concept model also represented Cupra’s first foray into the fully-electric market as the Spanish company’s first EV model to be unveiled. However, it will be the second model to hit the markets upon its release, coming after the Cupra Born.
Owing to SEAT’s relationship with Volkswagen, the model will be built on the Volkswagen Group MEB platform. This will be coupled with an all-wheel drivetrain that is powered by two motors in both the front and rear axles.
It is expected for the Tavascan to produce a max power output of 225 kW or 302 hp. This will likely net a 0-100 km/h time of 6.5 seconds.
Coupled with a 77 kWh lithium-ion battery pack, the model is expected to cover an estimated range of 450 km or 280 miles.
All of these performance stats are obviously based on the existing concept, so they are likely to be slightly different upon the release of the production version.
Competition for the model will come from other EV crossovers. The most notable of these include the Ford Mustang Mach-E, Skoda Enyaq iV, and of course, the Tesla Model Y. Its corporate cousin, the Volkswagen ID4, is also expected to compete with it.
