2017 Aygo

Toyota Aygo Photo

The 2017 Toyota Aygo is a small city car that aims to compete with some established small car competitors, like the VW Up and VW Polo. The Aygo excels in terms of styling, infotainment on higher models and a decent fuel economy. However, the tiny car is surprisingly bad value for money, and there’s only one choice of engine, which can seem pretty restrictive.

The 2017 model is part of the second generation of Aygo’s, so makes relatively few changes to the 2016 Toyota Aygo. If you’re looking for a more up-to-date version, the company gave the Aygo a facelift in 2018, which drastically changed the model. But, the 2017 Aygo has been virtually unchanged since 2014.

Under the hood, the 2017 Aygo is fitted with a 1.0-liter three-cylinder petrol engine, producing less than 100 horsepower. Despite the car being down on power, it’s very light, which makes the Aygo seem much faster than it is. Driving around town can be incredibly fun and, with such a small engine, you can use all the power pretty much all the time. This engine has an impressive fuel economy too, reaching almost 70mpg.

The overall ride in the 2017 Aygo is pretty respectable. The suspension reaches a good balance between sport and comfort, allowing you to ride comfortably around town without a compromise in performance. And the handling is nice and sharp, making the Aygo even more fun to drive.

The 2017 Aygo does let itself down in terms of its interior though. This is because, unless you get a more expensive model, there’s practically no tech or infotainment. This makes the Aygo very bad value for money, and if you’re looking for a cheap city car, you might want to look elsewhere.
