An excellent way to judge superminis is to look at the love they get on the European continent, especially in the UK, France, and other regions that favor these ultra-compact, low-cost, efficient offerings. By this test, the Ford Fiesta passes with flying colors for ranking as one of the best-selling nameplates in the UK for some time now.

This car’s mix of comfort focus, a wealth of options, and uncharacteristic (for its weight class) excellent driving profile make it an easy pick in this category for many prospective buyers. For 2023, Ford retains this formula unchanged, and it's not hard to see why.

One of the big reasons for the Fiesta’s appeal is the wealth of options available here.

While the nameplate does drop its two-door variants for this release, available trims still include X versions that offer higher-specced variations in each trim level, Titanium models that bring some of the best value for money in this market segment, Active trim options that offer a more capable profile for tackling rougher dirt tracks, and significantly higher-profile hot hatch ST models that pack both a beefier engine and the sporty aesthetic enhancements to match the Fiesta’s exciting driving profile.

Powering the 2023 Ford Fiesta’s adventurous nature is a 1-liter three-cylinder EcoBoost gasoline engine that appears in most of its variants. This engine is available either as a regular model that produces 100 horsepower or in a mild-hybrid setup that ups its power output to 125 HP and further lowers fuel consumption.

Alternatively, you can opt for the starter 75-horsepower 1.1-liter non-turbo engine that could be the sensible pick for younger, first-time drivers. The ST models feature a larger, more powerful 1.5-liter engine.

Available on all setups is an excellent six-speed manual gearbox, responsive shift action, decent grip, and extra-roomy front seats, creating a pleasurable driving experience that outclasses competitors like the Peugeot 208 and the Vauxhall Corsa.

An optional seven-speed automatic transmission is available with the 125-horsepower mild-hybrid engine.
