The Genesis brand has made it to the top end of the pile for the luxury SUV market segment in a shorter time than most other established names, and nameplates like the GV80 exemplify how they easily pulled off such a herculean task.

Genesis’s simple formula involves a mix of sublime exterior aesthetics, upscale interior ambiance with first-rate materials, and the best modern tech features—all of which aren’t extraordinary in this class—but doing so in a unique way that creates packages that feel way more premium than their price tag.

The GV80 is the epitome of this design philosophy, featuring a similar price tag to rivals like the Mercedes-Benz GLE-class, Volvo XC90, and BMW X5, yet packing an overall interior ambiance that edges them out in style. Plus, its Bentley-esque refined exterior helps to bolster that ultra-luxurious image further.

For 2023, the Genesis GV80 maintains an identical look to the previous year, with most of the changes to the lineup coming under the hood and with modifications to the features available on each trim.

The 2.5T Advanced trim now comes standard with ventilated seats and a panoramic sunroof—both were previously paid options. Genesis cancels the Prestige Signature trim, leaving the Prestige Matte as the only two-row option left in the lineup.

Other significant changes include the introduction of standard all-wheel drives for all models (with a commensurate base price increase,) the addition of a new oil life monitoring system, and updates to the design of the cup holders and the infotainment knob on the center console.

The engine choices under the hood are pretty beefy, with the base powertrain featuring a 300-horsepower 2.5-liter four-cylinder turbocharged unit. At the same time, the optional upgrade, a twin-turbocharged 3.5-liter V-6, increases the power output to 375 horsepower.
