2021 marked the first model year for the Genesis GV80, a mid-size luxury crossover SUV.

Genesis is the luxury spin-off brand from the Soth Korean automaker Hyundai.

It all started with the Hyundai Genesis (now known as the Genesis G80) sedan that got turned into its own sub-brand in 2015.

This model is the 7th line to come from the new brand and uses that G80 as a platform underpinning it.

It boasts lightweight aluminium in its construction compared to the older tradition of using cheap but heavy steel.

The 2021 GV80 is offered with one of three engines, two gasoline options and a turbodiesel outside of North America.

As standard, the car is offered with a rear-wheel-drive but you can upgrade to a four-wheel-drive at the sacrifice of additional weight.

Inside the car is a range of modern technologies and a luxurious finish that is customisable using the trims.

Genesis has managed to pack a lot of safety technology into the car also including radar-controlled collision avoidance and lane-keep assist.

This was extremely useful to golf star Tiger Woods who crashed one of the new models in early 2021 at high-speed and managed to survive.
