The Chevrolet Cruze succeeds in making an impact on the highly competitive compact-car market. It can outperform its rivals, such as the Volkswagen Golf in terms of storage space and comfort. However, it falls short on power and acceleration.

This 2018 model didn’t see too many new changes from the 2017 version. Notable amendments include a new exterior color dubbed ‘Satin Steel Metalic’ as well as the new option of having a turbo engine in the hatchback design. The safety rating has also increased to 5 stars for the 2018 model year.

Drivers are able to choose between a manual and automatic version of the car. The manual is extremely lackluster for a few reasons. Firstly, it fails to deliver any meaningful power, making the Cruze feel slow and sluggish. Secondly, the manual version can ruin the smoothness of the drive, making the automatic the better choice for most people.

Other than this, the car handles great. It’s bigger than most people would first expect, making it a great car for long journeys and family holidays. Its handling is responsive and fast, and the suspension makes for a very smooth ride. It also has some of the comfiest seats of any compact car.

This Cruze also comes with Chevrolet’s excellent MyLink infotainment system. This interface is flawless and makes the Cruze so much better to drive. You can easily connect your phone, operate the touchscreen whilst driving, and you’ll almost never run into problems with it.

The biggest problem with the Cruze is that it’s not as sporty as other rivals. If you’re looking for a fun car that you can throw into corners and get the most out of on motorways, this isn’t the model for you. Rivals such as the Honda Civic and Volkswagen Golf feel much faster and more agile, which makes for a more fun experience.
