The 2017 Ford EcoSport is a compact crossover SUV, which attempts to stand out in an incredibly crowded market and offer better value for money than rivals such as the Honda HR-V and Mazda CX-3. The Ford EcoSport simply doesn’t achieve this. In pretty much every way, the little SUV is unbelievably average and there are several better choices out there.

The 2017 model is pretty much the same as the 2016 Ford EcoSport. In fact, the car hasn’t really changed since it had a facelift in 2015. This included new styling, an upgrade to performance and better equipment in the cabin.

Under the hood, the 2017 EcoSport comes with a choice of a few different engines. The best choice is definitely the 1.5-liter TDCI. This engine produces a modest 112 horsepower and will accelerate the EcoSport from 0-60 in 14 seconds. This makes the EcoSport very average in terms of performance, and if you’re looking for something sporty, there are definitely better options out there.

Just like the performance, the handling of the EcoSport is resoundingly average. The suspension isn’t comfy, but it’s also not the worst in the world. And the handling is very boring- it works, but it seems to take all of the fun out of driving.

The interior of the EcoSport is at least practical. There’s plenty of legroom for all passengers and the seats are pretty comfy, making the EcoSport ideal for long journeys. There’s a decent amount of cargo space in the boot too. Although, the design of the cabin is uninspiring and the materials used feel cheap too.

As for infotainment, the 1017 EcoSport comes with a 4-inch touchscreen center console as standard. This is incredibly underwhelming and is poor value for money, especially when you compare this system to rivals. The touchscreen can glitch a lot too, making it even worse.
