The 2018 Alfa Romeo MiTo was the last one to exist before the company chose to discontinue the model. The 2018 model improved on its predecessors in a number of ways, but ultimately failed to keep up with its competition from Audi and Mini. Nevertheless, the MiTo’s unique styling won the hearts of many supermini enthusiasts.

The 2018 Mito was fitted with a 1.3-liter diesel engine, that produced 93 horsepower. This was a vast improvement upon previous models (such as the 2016 and 2017 ones), not only in terms of performance, but also in terms of emissions. The engine was also more refined, and less engine noise seeped into the cabin. The biggest problem with the 2018 model’s engine was how spongy and unresponsive the throttle felt. Accelerating seemed like too much of a task for the MiTo, which made motorway driving incredibly tedious.

The 2018 Mito’s best feature was its unique styling. Alfa Romeo has always had a flair for style, and the MiTo stood out from the competition. This helped to draw much attention to the MiTo, and the 2018 model was clearly the most refined version. It featured an aggressive stance, which was complemented by bold headlights and a unique grill.

However, this style was not copied into the cabin. The 2018 Mito was incredibly dull inside and the overall build quality felt accordingly cheap. There was no leather to be found, and only the bare essentials in terms of technology and infotainment. In fact, electric windows were even seen as a luxury in the 2018 Mito!

The 2018 Mito also lacked boot space and passenger comfort. This made the car incredibly impractical for families, or anyone who carried a decent amount of cargo.
Ultimately, the Alfa Romeo Mito was discontinued because it couldn’t keep up with its competition, and the 2018 version was no exception.
