The Audi A sedan models have long been a critical part of the brand’s success in the wider market. These large, luxurious, and powerful cars are favorites as executive cars as well as family cars. The 2019 A6 was a complete redesign over the 2018 model, so a significant year for the marque.

While the exterior wasn’t changed massively --- a new front grille design and some added character lines on the hood, for example --- the interior got a pretty big overhaul. It came in 3 trim levels: Premium, Premium Plus, and Prestige with starting prices ranging from $55,095 to $66,795.

A good word to describe the new interior of the 2019 A6 is “digitized.” It received in-dash navigation, a 10.1-inch infotainment display, the stunning Audi Virtual Cockpit instrument cluster, and a premium audio system from Bang & Olufsen. For extra utility and convenience, they also added a 360-degree exterior camera, auto high beam headlights, heated front and rear seats and much more.

Under the hood one would find a 3.0L V6 engine with mild hybrid technology in the form of a 48-volt alternator that manages the fuel-saving start-stop system. The powertrain is paired with a 7-speed automatic transmission, with Audi quattro AWD as standard. It could hit 60 from 0 in just 4.8 seconds.

The engine was rated by the EPA as achieving 29-mpg, but more extensive testing on the car actually revealed that it could get up to 32-mpg on longer journey tests. It’s not as efficient as something like the Lexus ES350, but that improved figure does put it ahead of fellow European rivals Mercedes-Benz and BMW.

The material is resplendent with soft leathers, soft-touch materials and stunning nickel-finished metal trim to add a tasteful flourish. There’s not an ounce of cheap plastic in sight. Climate controls are managed on a touch-sensitive panel under the main infotainment screen. It’s comfortable up front and in the rear, and can seat a group of 5 adults very comfortably indeed.
