2019 Subaru Forester Owner’s Manual

Viewing the explosive popularity of the Toyota RAV4 compact crossover SUV, Subaru decided to introduce their owner version - the Forester.

It was built on the already popular Impreza platform that featured the company's signature four-wheel-drive and boxer engine combo.

Within a few years, many other automakers in Japan had jumped onto the compact crossover SUV bandwagon including Honda with its CR-V model.

The model was a hit and scored amazingly with the crash testing agencies due to its low center-of-gravity from employing a boxer engine at the front of the car.

It did so well that it was one of only a few SUVs that didn't have to display a risk of rollover warning sticker on the car.

Originally the car was very utilitarian but over the years the model has gained an impressive range of comfort and safety features as standard.

This 2019 model is an example of the first of the fifth-generation that saw the car move to the Subaru Global Platform like most of its current range.

Torque is split between the front and rear axels by a computer-controlled clutch system in the center of the car to improve handling and reduce running costs.

The 2019 Forester is also available with the e-Boxer hybrid technology from the Japanese company for the first time also.
