2020 MKZ
The Lincoln MKZ is a 4-door luxury sedan in the mid-size category. It was the last sedan produced by Lincoln before switching to an all-SUV lineup in 2020. The MKZ was first introduced back in 2005 for the 2006 model year. It was produced across 2 generations, the first from 2006 to 2012 with a facelift in 2010, and the second from 2013 to 2020 with a final facelift in 2017.
Priced between $37,745 for the base-level Standard trim and $43,495 for the Reserve and Hybrid Reserve trims, the MKZ competed with the likes of the Acura TLX, Jaguar XE and Infiniti Q50. Reviews of the car were typically a mixed bag, with praise being given for its power and interior quality, but the criticism being leveled at it for on-road performance.
The standard powertrain on the MKZ is the 245-hp 4-cylinder unit with turbo. There’s also an optional V6 engine that delivers a more impressive 350-hp for its FWD variant, and up to 400-hp in the AWD variant. The V6 variant was greatly praised for its power, but the hybrid version really brings down the power party, but does also deliver an impressive 49-mpg in the city and 39-mpg on the highway.
The interior of the Lincoln MKZ is well appointed and well equipped, but lacks the level of luxury that has become standard on Lincoln’s new SUV models (such as the Corsair and the Nautilus). There is leather upholstery, genuine wood trims, an attractive integrated infotainment system, illuminated door sills, ambient lighting, and a power-operated trunk lid, all of which work in the car’s favor.
Ultimately, however, in order to get the most out of the MKZ, you had to climb the steep price increments of the trim ladder to get to the Reserve, which adds things like a 20-speaker premium audio system from Revel, as well as additional USB ports and integrated navigation.
