Some American buyers point to the fact that Suzuki was starting to come out with some really interesting car models in the US market before they suddenly pulled out in 2013. One of the models that the US market seriously missed out on is the 2020 Suzuki Jimny compact SUV. This is the ultimate rival to the Jeep Wrangler, and it’s a lot more affordable.

The 2020 Suzuki Jimny is part of the 4th generation that was launched in 2018. The starting price in the UK market where it enjoys popularity was about $22,500 for the base SZ4 model, and $25,700 for the upgraded SZ5 model.

Those buyers looking for pure off-road joy were generally happy with the SZ4 model with its steel wheels and infotainment system from the 1990s. Anyone wanting the more modern take with alloy wheels, an infotainment touchscreen, body-colored side mirrors and door handles, Apple CarPlay and Android Auto, advanced climate control, heated seats, leather steering wheel and more.

Another key to the 2020 Jimny and other model-year Jimny’s success was the fact that Suzuki offered a boat-load of approved aftermarket accessories that could be fitted to personalize the car to every driver.

On the road, the Jimny isn’t the best choice of vehicle for a daily runaround or commuting vehicle. The steering is a little lazy, and the body will lean on sharp bends. However, where it is more at home is off-road, where the leans feel more natural and stable as you traverse even the toughest terrain.

The 2020 Suzuki Jimny has 8.2 inches of ground clearance, which matches a lot of larger competition. It’s smaller frame allows it to access all kinds of off-road areas, especially with its 37-degree approach angle and 49-degree departure angle at the stock level. As we mentioned, this can be modified to suit whatever off-road destination you intend to hit.
