The long-standing sports car from Audi was thought to be on the chopping block in 2020 but returned in 2021 with a vengeance with models starting at $50,845.

The first and most positive things about the Audi TT are its iconic looks, decent gas mileage, and most of all its on-road handling thanks to the Quattro AWD system.

With low ground clearance and thus a low center of gravity, the 2021 Audi TT flies around even the tightest corners at speed without even a hint of lift or lean. This is a car that is positively glued to the road. The flagship Quattro AWD system gives unrivaled stability on virtually any road.

The 2021 model brought more equipment as standard, including Nappa leather upholstery, smartphone connectivity, blind-spot monitoring and a better audio system. Buyers could also upgrade the wheels to 19- or 20-inch versions.

It is still built upon the same MQB platform as it was before that is shared with popular lines such as the A3 and the VW Golf.

The 2021 TT came in 3 main versions, the standard TT Coupe, the TT Roadster (convertible) and the high-end TTS, which started at $60,545. The units are powered by a 2.0L 4-cylinder turbocharged engine outputting up to 228-hp, except for the TTS, which got a 288-hp version. All powertrains are linked to a 7-speed DCT.

Despite its athletic genes, the TT manages 23-mpg in the city, and 31-mpg on the highway, and still offers one of the most unique and stylish interiors at the same time. The finishes are clean, well-crafted and contemporary with no real controversial or divisive design choices.

One possibly contentious matter is the missing central infotainment screen, the functions of which are handled instead on the large fully digital instrument cluster with functions managed from wheel-mounted controls.

It’s technically a 4-seater, but the rear seat is really suited to your bags and books rather than human passengers, especially on any journey more than a few miles. Besides that, the TT isn’t the fastest sports car out there, but it’s still one of the easiest and most enjoyable to drive.
