Manual Cover
2021 Explorer
The Ford Explorer has gone through some major changes since its introduction in 1991.
It started life as a compact or mid-size SUV depending on whether you bought the 3 or 5-door version.
Then in 2011 with the introduction of the fifth-generation the American company switched the chassis so that it would be classed as a mid-size crossover SUV instead.
Taking over from it is the 2021 Escape that is now the company's compact crossover SUV.
By removing the off-road equipment and using a chassis more at home on a traditional road-going car they shaved off a lot of weight.
Running costs and maintenance is a big barrier to people looking to buy an SUV and the crossover alternative has proved a successful alternative.
This 2021 version of that crossover SUV version of the Explorer is an example of the recently introduced fifth-generation model that was brought in during 2020.
It is available in a variety of different trims that allow the buyer to tailor the car to suit their budget, trims include:
- Eddie Bauer
- King Ranch
- Limited
- Platinum
- Sport
- Sport XLS
- Sport XLT
- ST
- XL
- XLS
- XLT
Underneath is the same platform used by the Lincoln Navigator and features a range of economical engines pushing the envelope in fuel efficiency.
Like many automobile manufacturers, the car is adding more and more driver-aids and comfort features as standard each year.
To help the driver cope with these new advancements Ford has released an in-depth owner's manual in PDF format.
You can find that manual embedded on this page to view online, download or even print off to keep a physical copy lying around.
